TOUR LOCATION

Embark on a delightful Shore Excursion from Corfu port to uncover the enchanting highlights of Corfu Town and its picturesque surroundings! Begin your adventure in the historic Kanoni district, the former capital of Corfu. Enjoy the panoramic views of Vlacherna Monastery and the iconic Mouse Island, a site steeped in myth. According to legend, Mouse Island is the petrified ship of Odysseus, turned to stone by Poseidon. Capture these breathtaking vistas before continuing your journey. Next, we pass through the splendid Mon Repos Palace in Paleopolis, the ancient heart of Corfu. Built in 1824 by British governor Frederik Adams for his wife, Nina Palatianou, this palace served as the summer residence for the Greek royal family for over a century. One of the main attractions is the Esplanade (or Spianada), the largest square in the Balkans, featuring a cricket pitch, gardens, monuments, and a bandstand. This square is the venue for many parades throughout the year, often featuring traditional Corfiot marching bands. The Old Fortress, a superb example of Venetian military architecture, stands at one edge of the Esplanade. On the other side is the Liston, a beautiful French-style arcade with cafés and restaurants, where locals enjoy coffee, chatting with friends, and people-watching. On the northern side of the Esplanade is the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George, which houses the Museum of Asian Art. Other notable sites in Corfu Town include the ornately decorated Saint Spyridon Church, which contains the relics of the island’s patron saint, the elaborately designed Town Hall (formerly the town theater and opera house), and the New Venetian Fortress. Last but not least we drive through scenic Garitsa Bay to the charming Corfu Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through its cobblestoned streets, admire historic buildings, and revel in the captivating architecture. Stroll along the Liston promenade, designed by the French, and enjoy its bustling cafés and restaurants. Visit St. Spyridon Church, home to the remains of the island's patron saint, and take some time to shop or savor Corfiot cuisine in a local taverna. Conclude your excursion with a comfortable ride back to Corfu port, ensuring you return in time for your departure, enriched by the beauty and history of Corfu.
